Kingston, Jamaica — Police and customs officials have intercepted a massive shipment of cocaine disguised as Cuban honey at a major seaport in Kingston. More than 1,183 pounds (approximately 538.8 kg) of cocaine were discovered, marking one of the largest recent drug seizures in Jamaica.
The haul — valued at an estimated J$3.1 billion ($USD ~16.1 million) — was found in a 20-foot container during a joint operation involving the Jamaica Customs Agency and the Firearms and Narcotics Investigation Division (FNID). Officials said the container held 18 knitted bags containing about 450 individual parcels of powdered cocaine, carefully concealed under a honey shipment manifest.

Senior Superintendent Samuel Blake, head of FNID, said the operation underscores ongoing vigilance by Jamaica’s law-enforcement agencies and their international partners to disrupt major drug-trafficking networks. He encouraged anyone with information related to the seizure—or other drug operations—to contact CrimeStop (311), the nearest police station, or FNID directly.
This seizure is part of a broader crackdown on narcotics trafficking through Caribbean shipping routes. Customs records show that since the start of the year, several large shipments were intercepted, indicating intensified surveillance and patrol efforts at Kingston’s ports.
